what is your stance on horror games?i am kind of split on it which is not a good mindset to have. i like the idea and vibes of creepiness sometimes but it can also lead into many dark places where funny horror (darkness) and bad things (slime voidness) merge. basically, if you go too deep into the darkness, its good the darkness gets a new color that is pain. pain is always bad. i guess i just figured out my position on this.. ahahha woohoo. so what horror games do u like? or movies. cheaper == BETTER. gore is good.im trying to think of some good but i dont know many.. i stay away from horror and gore sometimes, because of the merging that happens that i mentioned above, but recently i have understood the appeal and i am ready to see the goods. theres a walking sim thats like a simulated nightmare thats very creepy vibes good. EXOPHILIEgames by yames are very good. stands out,, i might make a thread about em. hmm that is all i can think of right now. im gonna eat ketchup.

There are great horror videogames with gore like F.E.A.R. or DOOM 3. Then there are also great horror videogames with horror like Subnautica or SOMA. Then there are also great horror videogames with gore horror like BLOOD. Then there are also great horror videogames with horror gore like Manhunt. Anyway from my observation is that the horror and gore can't be combined too well in videogames. I think there is a curve where the more able your character is (like action shooters) the less horror it is and becomes more brutal. Being disturbed from gore and being in fear from horror are two different emotions, they don't seem to mix much at all Attachments:postul.webp (70.56 KB)

horror games are saved All jokes aside, I had this game when I was a kid. I had a pirated version, where some mini-games could not be played because the videos were cut out, as well as the music. It wasn't scary, but it gave me a bit of a creepy atmosphere.

Being disturbed from gore and being in fear from horror are two different emotions, they don't seem to mix much at all I haven't found a scarier game than the first Postal yet, as I rarely play horror games (I'm a coward). Plus I like the atmosphere of Produce for PC-88. I wish I understood how to play it. As far as I understand, it's something like the original strategy where we play as the one who sends the monsters. Pretty original, especially for the time. I generally find PC-88 games a bit creepy, even if they're not about horror at all. Probably because of the obscurity and the language, which gives that effect even more.

yeah many shrek games have some great parts in them. i was recently explaining to Crow the difference between good (trashy) bad, and actually (soulless) bad. trashy bad being something that is "low quality" as in mission details that are generally important for games, but that is exactly what makes them interesting, like kubus games, or metal music with "mistakes" in it. and soulless bad has truly no spark of the magic of an individual. and we concluded that soulless bad is basically "shovelware". but now i see even shovelware can be interesting if the devs approaching it go at it right. maybe it was just the spirit of shrek they needed to send them into the good zones.

hm, shovelware is an interesting word. it can be used to mean generic movie-license games, but it also has the aura of "soulless game". a word of strange powers. not sure how to use it.
