i've been playing icewind dale and it's far better than i expected. i really like the focus on combat and atmospheric presentation
i don't mind rpgs with a lot of reading but sometimes i just want something that's a bit lighter on the reading and more heavier on the sword-swinging and icewind dale gives me exactly that, plus i really like the soundscapes in it

Some time ago i install the first Gothic. It's kinda hard, i will try my best. i've been meaning to play Gothic 1 and 2 for years but i got repulsed by their control schemes until 2 years ago or so because i tried Archolos on a whim. Archolos actually bothers to explain them to you and the controls didn't seem so obtuse anymore

Yeah the control in Gothic is very weird, but you can get used to it.

i like FEAR & HUNGER, it's unique and full of a very special kind of darkness. many deep talks && lore of dark gods and cruel sacrifice in there, beware... mirohaver.itch.io/fear-hungeri also like crypta, a czech text game. i will make a text games thread now

way back in like late 2023 i binged the entire Avadon series and i found it to be one of the best isometric fantasy rpgs ive played besides Icewind Dale or Pillars of Eternity, although i do think the last one loses a lot of its appeal because it feels way too short compared to the first two games and you kinda know how the world works and its history and such by then - while the first Avadon game which takes its time to ease you into the world and organically introduce things to you, so it feels like an actual adventure in a world that you don't actually know

Morrowind probably my all time favorite, it IS a wall of text but a very amazing wall :-) Also Dink Smallwood an excellent work of art, completely libre now, 10/10 recommended: libregamewiki.org/FreeDink.
